February, snow and a lake. Nora Kinsella est descendue de sa petite chambre. Elle habitait au-dessus du garage de Roussel Déménagements. Ici, c'était la maison d'un vieux camion blanc : la Baleine.
Nora avait trente et un ans. Elle était irlandaise, de Cork. En septembre, elle est arrivée en France avec une seule valise. Maintenant, elle était déménageuse. Une déménageuse porte les meubles et les cartons des gens, d'une maison à une autre.
Samir était déjà là, avec un thermos. Un thermos, c'est une bouteille qui garde le café chaud.
— Gaby n'est pas là ? a demandé Nora.
— Gaby est toujours en retard le lundi.
Dans la rue, quelqu'un chantait. Très fort et très faux.
Samir a souri.
— La voilà.
